Our solar cooker is a parabolic cooker. We put foil on an umbrella to make it into a parabloid. We first didn't think it would work, but I tested it over Thanksgiving break, and the cooker started to feel warm which means that our cooker was sucessful. When I did this, I learned that we should keep the foil as flat as we could on the umbrella which was kind of challenging. I think this will cook effectively because the reflection of the sun bouncing off of the parabloid will reflect on the food on the sides and the bottom.
This is our parabloid. It isn't as flat as much as we wanted it to be, but it still works.
This is the botton part of the cooker that will hold the food on top and hold the cooker. It's made out of wood that we nailed together and spraypainted
We will be putting foil on the flat part in order for the sun to absorb from the top in case it doesn't heat up as much.
This is our entire cooker combined together. We need to find a way to attach the parabloid to the wooden part to make it work.
